When is the Seedream 5.5 release date?

BytePlus expects late October 2026, subject to change; we plan to bring Seedream 5.5 here at launch.

Can I use Seedream 5.5 for free?

Which model creates my images right now?

Your images are currently created with Seedream 5.0 Pro, shown as Seedream 5 Pro in the tool. It is ByteDance’s latest shipping Seedream model. The samples on this page use that model.

Will Seedream 5.5 support transparent backgrounds?

According to BytePlus, Seedream 5.5 is designed for native RGBA output with transparent and semitransparent areas. The current tool does not offer transparent background output.

Do I need to pay again when Seedream 5.5 launches?

You will keep the same account and credit balance when Seedream 5.5 is added here. There is no separate access purchase; generation costs will be shown in the tool.

Does it render readable text in different languages?

Seedream 5.0 Pro can render multilingual text in images. Put the exact wording in your prompt and check the result before publishing. BytePlus describes further improvements to small text and multilingual precision in Seedream 5.5.

Can I edit my own photos with reference images?

Yes. Add up to 10 reference images in the workspace and describe the changes you want. You can edit a photo or blend references while retaining the main subject.

Is there a Seedream 5.5 API?

You can create an API key on the API Keys page and use the current model with model=seedream-5-pro. A callable Seedream 5.5 API has not been announced; we will update access details when it becomes available.
